Is he joking or telling the truth?

well im best mates with the guy in my school tutor and i REALLY like him and i have for over a year now, he new i like him for a good 3 months but i told him i moved on cas he didnt like me back, but we always get on really well and non stop txtin. but the other night we were jokin round and i said i loved him and he said i love you 2 babes but im not sure if hes lying or telling the truth, later tha night i asked um could we ever be more than friends he didtn reply amd the next morning i told him it was d girls because he didnt answer... now he stopped txtin me back.. wha do i do? is he lying?
