Can you play dos games on mac?

ive got a game based on the film "dune" which before i bought my mac i played using dosbox which is a ms dos type program to run dos games but since i've bought my mac i've tried to load the game with dosbox which is available for mac but it just want work how ever i type the commands if there is another program i need to use with dosbox or another dos program all together or simply i'm just using the wrong commands could you point me in the right direction cheerz
