Hard drive format for windows and mac?

FAT32 (MS-DOS-fat) can be natively read by both Mac OS X and Windows (with a limit on maximum individual file sizes). Mac can natively read NTFS, but not write to it without installing a third party driver to handle the process (I recommend MacFuse - its free).
